Some of you may know our good friend Ben Levy. For those of you who don’t know him, here’s a little background: He packed up and moved from Boston to Hollyweird last year. He joined a band called Rosemary’s Garden. Within a few months, the band was playing SXSW and planning their US tour. Ben’s a go-getter!

Enter Sidewalk Driver. We are joining Ben and Rosemary’s Garden as they swing through the East Coast on their U.S. tour! We will be at Copperfield’s this Thursday, June 25.

Also on the bill are Eddie Japan, who will blow you away with the sweeping sonic spectacular that is their brand of ‘Melodramatic Popular Song.”

Doors are at 8 pm, the show is 21+ and the cover is $8.

See you there!

We are big fans of Boston Band Crush – and not just because they say nice things about us. Like this:

Sidewalk Driver are always an absolute pleasure to witness.  They rock hard by pulling a lot of ’70s arena rock in, packaging it with some glam, wrapping the whole thing in awesome and shooting it back out at the audience with glitter cannons and smoke machines. They are one of the best live bands in Boston and I look forward VERY much to the release of their debut album later this year.

They also update their site regularly and pack it full of great reviews and information about the Boston music scene.

Check ‘em out!

Sidewalk Driver

We have a new bass player!

Now holding down the bottom end for Sidewalk Driver… Jonn Smith! Jonn also plays bass and handles the lead vocals in a Boston power trio called Red Red Rockit (the other band members may look familiar…).

He has big hair and we are encouraging him to style it into Afro puffs.

Come to our next show on May 9, 2009 at TT’s to welcome Jonn into the Sidewalk Driver family!

We had such a blast at our last Midway show that we just have to go back for more! Apparently, the show is an “April Fools’ Ball.” It’s a pretty good April Fools’ Day joke because it’s on April 3. Gotcha!

We’ll be sharing the bill with our friends The Killer Abs, Pariah Beat and… ahem… Penis Fly Trap

We know you’ve been jonesin’ for a Sidewalk-Driver-in-Central-Square fix for a few months. We’re back, baby! After wandering as far afield as Jamaica Plain (heading back in April – it’s fun there!), we are returning to our old stomping grounds.

Yes, Friday, March 6, 2009 will mark our return, after a staggering 4 month hiatus from playing in Central Square, to T.T. the Bear’s. Its back room is like a purple womb to us.

Sharing the bill with us are Speakermute, Red Quiet and Hypernova, guaranteeing a night rich with melty rock ‘n’ roll goodness. So hop on the T, grab some falafel and get thee to T.T.’s on March 6.

See you there!

The record is coming along nicely – tracking is all done and we’ve finally entered the mixing phase!

For those of you who have been patiently waiting for our first full-length album – you won’t be disappointed. We’ve heard half of the rough mixes from Alex “The Greek” Hatziyannis at Old Folks Home Recording and we like what we hear. Oh, those Greeks!

The record will include some of your old favorites, as well as some new treats for your listening pleasure. We’ll keep you posted about the upcoming CD release.

We were so saddened to hear that our beloved Jeanne Sheehy passed away. Jeanne was an institution at TT’s and in the Boston music scene. She was always quick with a drink and a beautiful smile.

Jeanne was truly adored by all. We will miss her terribly… Rest in peace, Jeanne.

After a couple of last-minute changes, we can finally announce the line-up for the show this Friday, February 6 at The Midway!

Kicking off the evening at 9 pm will be the incomparable Mercy James with a solo set! Next up is the glamtastic Logan 5 and the Runners! Then Sidewalk Driver will throw glitter in your faces! Rounding out the evening with their infectious brand of power pop punk is 1977!

You don’t want to miss this!

We’ve decided to take a sharp detour from our usual brand of debauched rock. We’ll be playing at Church on Saturday, January 3, 2009.

Actually, we haven’t gone all Stryper on you – Church is a kick-ass new club in Boston that we’ve been dying to play. We’re very excited that this will be our first show of 2009!

We’ll be kicking off the night at 9:00, so don’t be late!

See you there!
